Powerpacks Program
For many students in our area, Friday lunch at school is the last meal they will have until they return to school Monday morning for breakfast. Working to alleviate childhood hunger, the Brazosport Cares has partnered with Brazosport Independent School District to provide weekend backpacks full of enough food to last until Monday morning for homeless and chronically hungry students who would otherwise go home to little or no meals on weekends and holidays.
In 2018, the Powerpacks program provided 18,423 meals and served 215 children in the Brazosport High School feeder pattern.
